Houens Odde - Go for a walk and end up at the tip of Houens Odde where you can enjoy

Distance: 70.09 Km

Beautifully located nature area Houens Odde is located as a seaweed between Gudsø Vig and Eltang Vig northeast of Kolding. Here you have the opportunity to walk on the forested steep slopes through Houens Skov and out to the tip, Houens Odde, from where there is a wonderful view of Kolding Fjord.

Eltang Vig, on the south side of the seaweed, was dammed in 1872 for long-term use. During a violent storm in 1978, the dike gave way to the pressure of the water masses and the water flooded the dammed area, so that the agricultural land was turned into seabed.

On the north side of Houens Odde is Gudsø Vig. The beach meadows at the bottom of the cove are growing with roof pipes and work is underway to get the beach meadows grazed again with cattle, to promote the more species-rich beach meadow flora and fauna. At the bottom of the cove, you can see small flocks of whooper swans in most seasons, and during the migration season, singing swans are occasionally seen.
