Stenderup Forests: Beach, forest and meadow

Stenderup Skovene is a fantastic natural area southwest of Fredericia. In the large nature area are three different forest areas called Nørreskov, Midtskov and Sønderskov, and a long stretch of coast out to the Little Belt. The coastline has both areas with beach and places with steep slopes down to the water.

In the forest areas, there are both deciduous and spruce forests and over 500-year-old oak trees. There are also several historical monuments in the area, and evidence has been found that there has been habitation at the Stenderup Forests as far back as the Stone Age, 3200 years before our era, as there is a Stone Age burial mound in the area.

Activities in nature - on a bike ride or hike?

Stenderup Skovene is covered by a trail system, which is perfect for both a cycling and walking tour. In the area there are both several sights and special nature, which you can plan your route according to.

The Norwegian Nature Agency has prepared a folder with a route in the area and a brief overview of a number of the area's sights.

In addition to the leaflet, the Norwegian Nature Agency also has a digital nature guide to the exciting nature area at Stenderup. Here you can read about the time of year in the area, about flora and fauna and about activities in the area.
