I Elbodalen near Kongsted is the Kongsted Lakes, a lovely natural area that, in addition to the lakes, also contains forest, glades and several small streams. Also Spang Å, which runs all the way to Rand's Fjord, passes through the area.

At Kongstedsøerne you will find plenty of wildlife! Ducks in particular like to stay by the lakes, and it is also possible to spot the rare bird the kingfisher. Otters also live in the area, which you may be lucky enough to see on your trip.

Pack the picnic basket or take the fishing rod with you

The peaceful nature of the Kongssted Islands is perfect for a picnic excursion with a food basket. Bring a blanket yourself or use the tables and benches in the area. If you are more into fishing trips, you can too fishing in the lakes. Pack the fishing rods and see if you are lucky enough to get, for example, a pike on the hook!

Parking: You can park at Kongsted Vandværk, from where it is only a short walk to the lakes. Here you will also find an overview of the area and information about the area's hiking routes.

Nature area with important function as water supply

Although many people mostly think of Kongstedsøerne as an area of ​​beautiful nature, it is actually a water supply area that has supplied water to the citizens of Fredericia Municipality since 1929. That is why Kongstedsøerne also goes by the name Vandværksøerne!

In the area, you can still see the old waterworks building, which is next to the current Kongsted Waterworks.
