Experiences for children and adults at Fredericia City Museum

In 2021, the Fredericia Museums were awarded the "Museum communicator prize 2021" for communicating the city's history in a new and innovative way to new target groups. And at the Fredericia City Museum, communication is at the fore, because here you get both history, learning and movement!

Visit the museum and see the beautiful physical displays, try the museum's interactive offer, learn more about the contents of the exhibitions and explore the old Frederician buildings, which are part of the city museum. Fredericia City Museum's exhibitions and activities appeal to both young and old.

Outdoor and indoor activities in historic surroundings

For example, make your way past the exhibition in the city museum's shed The Battle of Fredericia in 1849. Here you can sit down in the small soldiers' camp and write a letter to your loved ones, just as the soldiers did in 1849. Or you can take a look inside the museum farm's small soldiers' chamber, which is a copy of the small chambers that were found on all farms in Fredericia, when the city functioned as a fortress.

Outside you can explore the museum's historic buildings, which are all old buildings from the Fredericia area. See, for example, the old tobacco barn, which has been used by the city's citizens for drying tobacco, or The museum garden, the museum's associated gardens. In the summer, for example, you can experience the beautiful rose garden, which a local rose enthusiast has donated to the city museum.

Fredericia City Museum offers many hours of entertainment, and it's completely free!

Fredericia Museum lets the main characters tell the story

At Fredericia City Museum, history is alive, and you can even hear about the exciting episodes and life destinies from the people themselves!

In several of Fredericia City Museum's exhibitions, you will not only find painted portraits, but also "living portraits" that you can ask questions about and get answers from. Meet a genuine president, a prince exiled from the city and a king who decided to build a city in a swamp on your tour of the museum.
